Thanks for your interest in the Ohio Citizens Firearms Training (OCFT) Academy, owned and privately operated by a retired Cleveland Police Officer and US Army veteran.
This highly experienced firearms instructor, certified through the Ohio Peace Officer Training Commission and the National Rifle Association, has trained and re-certified thousands of police officers and private security officers and certified numerous citizens for concealed handgun carry.
He and his staff, who are current or retired police officers and veterans, are committed to training you to become a confident, law abiding individual who can make proper and lawful decisions and take legal action in a deadly force encounter.

20 HOUR O.P.O.T.A. FIREARMS CLASSES begin Friday evening and continue Saturday through Sunday. Only the beginning Friday is shown on the calendar.

Click or Tap on the STUDENT DISCLOSURES AND STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING form below. If you have to answer YES to any question 1 through 21, you WILL NOT be able to attend the class without prior clearance from O.P.O.T.A..
Obtaining prior clearance from O.P.O.T.A. is accomplished by emailing OCFT Academy a Final Journal Entry which is obtained from the jurisdiction’s Clerk of Courts detailing the circumstances of your felony conviction. In turn, OCFT Academy will forward this document to O.P.O.T.A. for their review and determination. This process through OP.O.T.A. may take several days to a week.
***THIS PROCESS MUST TAKE PLACE EVEN THOUGH YOUR CONVICTION HAS BEEN SEALED OR EXPUNGED***

Also, if you register and/or attend the class without prior O.P.O.T.A. clearance and have to answer YES to any question 1 through 21, you will not be permitted to stay and you will forfeit your payment without further relief.

HR 218/LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS SAFETY ACT
Please click or tap on the LEOSA picture below to sign-up for the class you would like to attend. Make sure to answer each question on the form.
Once completed, you will receive an email with additiional, specific information on the class. The requalification is held at the Publice Safety Training Center in Parma Heights, Ohio. Please do not contact them, they are not involved in the class and are used only for their state-of-the-art private range rental.
Cost for the class is $35.00 cash which is payable on the date of the class. Once successfully completed, you will receive a sheet of eight LEOSA cards on the day of your requalification.
